A few centimeters of technique make a big difference on a growth chart. Measure the same way every time and your home curve becomes genuinely useful to your pediatrician.
Length for babies who can't stand
Lay the baby flat on a firm surface. Straighten the legs gently, press the head against the top board, and mark the heel line. Measure from mark to mark. Two people make this much easier.
Height once they stand
Once a child stands, use a wall-mounted height measure. Bare feet, heels together, back flat against the wall, looking straight ahead. Read at eye level, not from above.
Do it the same way every time
Same person, same surface, same time of day (lengths shrink slightly by evening). Write it down immediately. Consistency beats precision.
Let the app do the math
Log each home measurement in GrowChart and it plots length or height on the WHO curve automatically, flagging anything worth mentioning to your doctor.
