Every parent wonders. The honest answer: genetics sets a range, growth sets the path, and the best predictor of adult height is the child's own steady curve — not a single guess.
The mid-parental estimate
Pediatricians often estimate a range from both parents' heights — roughly the parents' average, adjusted for the child's sex, plus or minus about 8 cm. It is a range, not a promise.
The curve is the stronger signal
A child who has tracked the 40th percentile for years is very likely to stay near it. Percentile paths are sticky; the curve you already have predicts better than any formula.
What changes the path
Growth depends on steady nutrition, sleep, and health through childhood and puberty. These shift the outcome within the genetic range — that is where the honest effort goes.
See the range and the curve
GrowChart shows the mid-parental estimate and your child's own percentile curve side by side, so you can see how the actual path compares to the genetic range.
